Devotional Literature

In this virtual course, we'll explore devotion with an orientation to reading for a “beyond”—an address or other outside the author and reader. We’ll consider the uses of the beyond in these contexts and practice techniques we might use in our own writing. Some authors we will look at are Du Fu, Solomon ibn Gabirol, Dante, M. Nourbese Philip, and others. Ultimately though, this class is a generative class: so come prepared to write!

This class consists of four two-hour sessions that will meet on Saturdays beginning the month of January on the 17th. See below for full schedule.
