In this online class, students will bring one poem to class, which over four-weeks will receive three-different styles of feedback: first, a group discussion-based workshop focused on description; second, a one-on-one meeting with facilitator and poet Jos Charles on revision and practice; and, lastly, a more casual reading-session with group responses (generative feedback and reading or other media recommendations). The aim of this workshop is to both refine a single poem while reading it as an entry to the student’s writing practice.
Students will bring 1-3 pgs. of work, ideally a single poem, though serial poems or a series of shorter poems are welcome so long as they don't exceed the page count. These poems will be submitted by February 20th (Friday) so as to give other students in the class time to read the packets. Notes on other students' work isn't required.
Each student will receive one 20-minute workshop, a 30-minute meeting with Jos with notes on their poem, and a 20-minute discussion.
This class has a sliding scale, though there are only a fixed number of spots available. Sliding scale payment is $150-$300. Please reach out to us at info@straybooks.co, let us know how much you can pay, and we'll email you back relevant info!
